The KTEC Plumbing Program is a two year program that satisfies the first year of classroom/education portion of the North Idaho College (NIC) four year Apprentice Plumbing Program. This program is a step in becoming a Journeyman plumber.
This program prepares an individual for employment or continued education in the plumbing industry. It is a basic course teaching fundamentals of job site safety, use of tools and basic plumbing skills. This is a hands on class that includes projects ranging from constructing plumbing systems including drain, waste and vent (DWV) systems, water distribution systems, natural gas and propane distribution systems, installation of plumbing fixtures, servicing of plumbing systems, and specifically working with materials including copper pipe, PEX, ABS, PVC, CPVC, cast iron, black iron pipe, etc.
This program includes offsite work at Habitat for Humanity and other offsite locations as projects arise, other plumbing related projects/improvements on campus and projects in the shop area at KTEC.
